Who’s Running in Prince Edward County, VA, in 2026?

 

The November 3, 2026, general election will include races for the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, along with three proposed amendments to the Virginia Constitution.

Prince Edward County voters will help choose who represents Virginia in the U.S. Senate and who represents Virginia’s 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Mark Warner
Democratic Candidate for U.S. Senate – Virginia

U.S. Senator and former Virginia Governor Mark Warner is seeking reelection to the U.S. Senate, where he has represented Virginia since 2009. Before entering public service, Warner spent two decades as a technology entrepreneur and business leader. Known for working across party lines, he has focused in the Senate on strengthening the economy, expanding infrastructure and broadband, lowering health care costs, supporting domestic manufacturing, and protecting national security.

Background & Service:

  • Has represented Virginia in the U.S. Senate since 2009 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
  • Served as Governor of Virginia from 2002 to 2006.
  • Spent 20 years as a technology and business leader before entering public office and was an early investor in the cellular telephone industry.
  • Has played a leading role in bipartisan legislation addressing infrastructure, broadband, cybersecurity, domestic manufacturing, health care costs, and national security.

Former U.S. Representative Tom Perriello is the Democratic candidate for Virginia’s 5th Congressional District in the November 3 general election. Perriello represented the district in Congress from 2009 to 2011 before serving in senior diplomatic roles with the U.S. Department of State and leading nonprofit organizations focused on democracy and human rights. His campaign emphasizes lowering costs for working families, expanding access to health care, protecting democracy, and strengthening rural communities.

Background & Service:

    • Served as U.S. Representative for Virginia’s 5th Congressional District (2009–2011).
    • Served as a U.S. Special Envoy and held senior leadership roles at the U.S. Department of State.
    • Former president and CEO of the Center for American Progress Action Fund.
    • Has worked throughout his career on issues including economic opportunity, affordable health care, voting rights, and rural investment.
