Election FAQ
In 2026, voters in Prince Edward County will participate in:
- a statewide special election in April on a proposed constitutional amendment,
- a Democratic primary election in June, and
- a general election in November.
Your ballot may include constitutional amendments, federal offices, and local races depending on the election date. The important dates to remember are outlined below. You can also find out What’s on the Ballot in My Area?
What important dates do I need to remember?
If you miss the deadline to register to vote, or if your registration is in question you can ask the election official for a provisional ballot.
First day of in-person early voting:
- April Special Election – Friday, March 6, 2026
- August Primary – Thursday, June 18, 2026
- November General Election – Friday, September 18, 2026
at the Registrar’s Office (2nd floor, Prince Edward Courthouse).
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
Deadline to register to vote or update your registration:
- April Special Election – Tuesday, April 14, 2026
- August Primary – Friday, July 24, 2026
- November General Election – Friday, October 23, 2026
(You may still register after this date through Election Day, but you’ll vote using a provisional ballot.)
Deadline to request a mailed ballot to you:
- April Special Election – Friday, April 10, 2026
- August Primary – Friday, July 24, 2026
- November General Election – Friday, October 23, 2026
(Your request must be received by the Registrar’s Office.)
Last day of in-person early voting:
- April Special Election – Saturday, April 18, 2026
- August Primary – Saturday, August 1, 2026
- November General Election – Saturday, October 31, 2026

What important info do I need to vote?
Eligibility:
- If you will be 18 by the election date, you may register now at the Registrar’s Office.
Election dates for 2026:- April 21, 2026
- June 16, 2026
- November 3, 2026
Ways to vote:
- By absentee ballot. Apply online or at the Registar’s Office.
- In-person early voting at the Courthouse (including some Saturdays)
- April 11 and April 18 for the April special election
- On Election Day at your polling place

Note: Precinct 701 now votes at the Train Station.
